A stack of fabrics with holes that line up, black strips woven through the holes, accentuated with bleach pen. This is before I rinsed off the bleach pen, and the dried pen marks make a nice lumpy emphasis on the presence of the holes.
I tried to do something yesterday, but between the snow storm and drops in my eyes from an eye exam the entire world was fuzzy and blurry, and I could see nothing. I wound up napping for a huge chunk of it, waiting to get my eyes back!
I definitely made up for it today, because look what else I finished the stitching on:
Reverse Maple Leaves –
the relicts from making Ten Maples Leaves, which needs stitching and I'll show it then.
I managed this one Tuesday, and failed to get it out of the camera. The center is a piece of fabric with circles fused to it, woven into strips of hand dyed blue. I tried to accentuate the circles with bleach pen on the the blue strips, but it didn’t work very well.
I would like to make a lot of moons. I like all the shapes of the moon. I love that it changes. I shall think about that.
The Artist Support Group had a nice meeting today, and we were wowed by our own productivity over the last year. Happy Anniversary Us, and many happy returns.
I was thinking over the layers of circles and stars I was working on, and just started stacking circles. I had to interpolate some of them with a compass, but it worked pretty well. It looked too smooth before I distressed it with a toothbrush and some sandpaper.
I saw this icicle at lunch. There is something funny and fabulous about icicles (and something deeply odd about the spelling – I have stared at that for a while, and tried several iterations before the spell checker liked it.) especially really big ones, or really baroque ones. This one isn't especially big or baroque, but I do like the way it encloses the lamp.
Totally missed yesterday. It was really busy, and I was so tired by the end I couldn’t stand up. I have been looking after my riding instructor’s barn, and on Mon and Wed I cleaned seven stalls. Usually four is plenty. Seven is falling over and moaning territory. I did stay awake at Aerin’s winter concert, which was pretty excellent.
I didn’t like the way Tuesday’s starburst came out looking inside out to me, so I started building this one from the outside in, and using thinner pieces. I like the feel of it better; it is closer to what I was aiming for. I may need to think about these some more. Maybe layers of graduated circles, with strips/stripes over the top.
